Upcoming Drive to Survive Seminars

About “Drivetosurvive.org”
Since 1984, 20 to 25 percent of firefighter fatalities have resulted from motor vehicle crashes. In addition to these fatalities, countless other firefighters and civilians are seriously injured in motor vehicle crashes involving fire apparatus, ambulances and personal vehicles. While many fire departments participate in some type of driver training program, these programs often fail to properly address the issues of vehicle dynamics and large truck behavior. Drivetosurvive.org is an information clearinghouse that will allow members of the fire service to share important training related topics in the area of emergency vehicle operations. Visitors are encouraged to submit links to other web pages that provide training and information in any aspect of driver training, pump operations, vehicle maintenance and crash avoidance. While there are few informational sites regarding the topic of fire apparatus specifically, visitors are encouraged to submit any sites that relate to general vehicle safety or commercial vehicle safety. It is our hope that by providing a central library of information for all of us to share, the number of fire apparatus related vehicle crashes can be reduced over the next several years
